The office is home to both our production company and our merchandise and concessions company, Marquee Merchandise, which provides merchandising and concessionaire services for Broadway, Off-Broadway and touring productions. The staff takes pride in not only creating new Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, but servicing them as well.

Matt Murphy (Producer) 

Matt is currently producing Off-Broadway’s longest-running comedy Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man on tour and in Las Vegas, as well as The Berenstain Bears LIVE! in Family Matters, the Musical, now touring after three years Off-Broadway. Matt recently produced the critically acclaimed musical Side Show on Broadway. Other productions include the Tony Award-Winning musical Memphis on Broadway, Thurgood, starring Laurence Fishburne who was nominated for a Tony Award for his stellar performance, and the Michael Jacobs play Impressionism, starring Joan Allen and Jeremy Irons. Matt’s producing debut in New York was the Off-Broadway hit Altar Boyz, which became one of the longest-running Off-Broadway musicals in history during its remarkable 5-year run at New World Stages. In addition to his work on Broadway and Off-Broadway, Matt produced a successful touring production of an original musical for today’s texting, blogging, and Facebooking generation called Virtually Me!, which was profiled on Fox News and My9 News for its efforts to educate students about the increasingly challenging issue of cyber-bullying. Matt is the founder and president of Marquee Merchandise LLC, which creates and manages the sales of merchandise and concessions for several Broadway and Off-Broadway shows and venues here in New York and around the country. Matt’s company also founded and operates The Broadway Store, an online shopping center for all things Broadway.

Scott Munson (Accounts Manager) 

Scott is thrilled to be at the Matt Murphy Productions team after recently graduating from Baruch College with his MBA in Accounting. He brings with him 13 years of accounting department experience and a love of all things theatre and all things New York. In his spare time, he sees as many shows as he can afford, sings with the Stonewall Chorale, and serves on the Finance Committee and Arts Committee at Judson Memorial Church.

Shane Parks (Associate General Manager)  

Shane joined Matt Murphy Productions at the beginning of 2017 after three years with Broadway Asia International, where he managed shows in China, the UK, and the US. Originally from Maryland, he is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, with a Bachelor’s in Music Composition, and New York University, with an MFA in Musical Theater Writing. Shane has supervised the touring production of The Berenstain Bears LIVE! and Off-Broadway, touring, and Las Vegas productions of Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man. He lives in Brooklyn with his fiancé where he raises his garden of books and pet chromecast.

Byron F. Abens (Office Manager) 

Byron joins Matt Murphy Productions after working many years as an Equity stage manager. He has worked on productions Off-Broadway (including Gates of Gold, 59E59; Tales from the Tunnel, Bleecker Street Theatre; and Skippyjon Jones, Lortel Theatre), regionally (Stages St. Louis, Kansas City Repertory Theatre, and Michigan Opera Theatre amongst others), and across the country touring with Theatreworks USA (including productions of Seussical, Click Clack Moo, and The Lightning Thief). Byron holds a Bachelor of Arts from Baldwin Wallace University and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
